The Bell is surrounded by numerous walks that don't have
to be too arduous, but will take you across the beautiful Herefordshire
countryside. All walks are clearly marked on the Ordinance
Survey map and the routes themselves are signposted.
However, if you fancy something a little less taxing then
visit Ledbury which is only a couple of miles away. Ledbury
is a
thriving market town that boasts a selection of very individual
shops, from clothes and home furnishings to delicatessens.
Well worth a look. The town itself is
also steeped in history and has very strong connections with
the 17th Century English Civil War...
A few miles to the East is Malvern, famous
for its hills and spring water. There's plenty to see and
do in Great Malvern including a visit to the Priory, which
has
a history dating back 900 years. There is also a very interesting
town museum were you can learn the history of Malvern from
the formation of the hills 1,000 million years ago through
it's heyday as a Victorian spa town to the present day. The
museum is housed in the Abbey Gatehouse, which dates back
to around 1470 itself. A short, but strenuous, walk from
the town
centre will take you to the top of the Malvern Hills - breathtaking
in more ways than one. |
